Last updated: 5 April 2026
This notice explains how we use information in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It is not legal advice; adapt it if your processing changes.
Who we are
The View Port Isaac operates this website. Contact: theview.portisaac@gmail.com, New Road, Port Isaac, PL29 3SB, UK. For data protection queries, use the same address (we will identify the appropriate contact if we appoint a DPO or representative).
What we collect
- Browsing: technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed may be processed by our hosting or analytics providers if you enable them.
- Shopping basket: product choices may be stored in your browser (local storage) so your cart persists between visits on the same device.
- Checkout: when you pay, your card details are processed by SumUp (and your bank). We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We may receive your name, email, and order amount from our payment and till systems as needed to fulfil the order.
- Emails: if you email us, we keep your message and contact details to respond and manage your request.
Why we use it
We process data to run the website, take and fulfil orders, comply with law, and respond to you. The lawful bases under UK GDPR are typically: contract (fulfilling your purchase), legitimate interests (running a secure shop, customer service), and legal obligation where applicable.
Sharing
We share data with service providers who help us operate the site and take payments (for example payment processors and hosting). They may only use data on our instructions and must protect it appropriately. We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep order and communication records for as long as needed to fulfil orders, handle returns, and meet accounting and legal requirements (often several years for tax records). Marketing data, if any, is kept only with consent.
Your rights
You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability, subject to conditions. You may complain to the ICO (UK) if you believe we have handled data unlawfully.
Cookies
We use cookies or similar technologies only as needed for the site to function and for any analytics you configure. You can control cookies in your browser settings.
Updates
We may update this policy; the date at the top of the page reflects the latest version when we publish changes.
